Jim Coffman served as Clerk Treasurer for the City of Beech Grove from 2020-2023 and assumes his role as Mayor on January 1, 2024. Jim was born in Beech Grove and raised on Sumner Avenue, along with his nine siblings. After he graduated from IU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, he moved back to Beech Grove, where he lives with his wife Jennifer and their three children – Claire, Alex, and Theodore. He’s also the owner of Eckstein Shoe Store on Main Street.
During his years as Clerk Treasurer, Jim focused on providing essential services to residents, paying quality wages to City employees, while also lowering taxes.
In addition, there have been several improvements to infrastructure across the city, including the Franciscan Trail, Thompson Trail, and the roundabout at Churchman and Arlington. In 2022, Jim helped the city finalize funding for a new state-of-the-art police station that will serve as the new gateway to the heart of our City: Main Street.
